Dhanya’s Journey as Young Ambassador: Reaching for the Stars

At Inspiring Girls Switzerland, our Young Ambassadors play an important role in bringing our mission to life; showing that young people themselves can be powerful advocates for change. During her time as Young Ambassador (2022–2023), Dhanya embodied that spirit through a series of exciting collaborations, interviews, and events that connected girls with inspiring role models around the world.

Dhanya first joined our activities during National Future Day (Zukunftstag) through a collaboration between Inspiring Girls Switzerland and Valtech, where she helped share the experience through our social media and engaged with the initiative’s mission of encouraging young people to explore diverse career paths.

Her journey soon expanded internationally through a collaboration between Inspiring Girls International, the European Space Agency, and Mattel as part of the Barbie Dream Gap Project. This global initiative aims to challenge gender stereotypes and support girls in believing they can pursue any career they dream of.

As part of these activities, Dhanya had the extraordinary opportunity to take part in an interview session with astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, who answered questions while on her mission aboard the International Space Station. The conversation offered a powerful reminder to young girls everywhere that careers in science, space, and technology are within their reach.

Another highlight came through the Dream Gap Project, when Dhanya joined other Young Ambassadors from the Inspiring Girls network to interview acclaimed television creator and producer Shonda Rhimes. Known for creating groundbreaking shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, Rhimes has been honored as a role model within the Dream Gap Project — a campaign designed to inspire confidence and resilience in girls by showcasing women who have broken barriers in their fields.

Dhanya’s journey as Young Ambassador shows exactly what Inspiring Girls stands for: empowering girls not only to dream big, but also to become leaders and role models themselves. By connecting with extraordinary women in fields ranging from space exploration to global media, she helped spark curiosity, ambition, and confidence in the next generation.
